Aftercare Instructions

  • Keep second skin on for 5-7 days.
  • When showering with the second skin on, avoid taking hot showers where the water directly hits the tattoo.
  • Once you are ready to take the second skin off, gently remove the second skin under warm water NOT HOT. Peel down slowly, not up towards your head.
  • After the second skin is removed, clean the tattoo with a gentle non scented soap. Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser and Aquaphor are good.
  • Keep the tattoo covered and out of direct sunlight for a minimum of 2-3 weeks.
  • Moisturize the tattoo with a gentle non scented skin moisturizer, Cetaphil makes a good one as well. Moisturize at least twice a day, or whenever it looks dry.
  • Do NOT use harsh products to clean the tattoo (Hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol).
  • Avoid drinking alcohol for the first week in the healing process.
  • Do NOT go swimming for 1 month after getting your tattoo.
  • Do NOT go tanning for 1 month after getting your tattoo.
  • Do NOT itch or scratch your tattoo, you must leave it alone
  • Avoid putting perfumes on the area of the tattoo.
  • If you follow the instructions above, you should not have any problems during the healing process.

Infections

  • Whenever you get a tattoo there is always a chance of infection.
  • If the tattoo is very painful and sensitive to the touch after a few days of healing, it is probably infected.
  • If your tattoo is infected, remove second skin and immediately clean the area with the above mentioned products (NO ALCOHOL OR PEROXIDE).
  • You may also come back to the studio where we will clean it for you and reapply second skin (Free of charge).
  • If a few days after cleaning the infection the pain and inflammation/redness persists. Go to your nearest clinic/hospital to have it looked at by a medical professional.
  • Most causes of infection come from poor aftercare so make sure to be diligent in the healing process.
  • Sometimes you can do everything right and still get an infection, unfortunately this is always a risk when getting a tattoo, but with proper aftercare and catching it early, it should not affect the look of the tattoo.
